Nuasin Next Generation Charter School is in search of motivated, mission-aligned individuals that want to join us in providing the scholars and families of the Highbridge section of the Bronx  with the truly excellent school they need and deserve.  We are looking for educators that believe in the talent and intellectual capabilities of our scholars.  We are looking for educators that are excited to engage and ignite our scholars in deep intellectual engagement of great ideas, problem-solving activities, and a complex understanding of our academic content.  Nuasin is a school and community that cares about your why and expects you to bring passion, commitment, and respect to our scholars on a daily basis.  Below is a description of the teaching positions that are currently available.  Please reply to this email or contact us if Nuasin is the right place for you. 

The anticipated salary range is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 for a candidate who will work in New York City. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience to the job, education, and certifications.

A Culture Team Member at Nuasin Next Generation Charter School will:

  • Model the core values of Nuasin Next Generation Charter School at all times; be a visible and highly engaged leader in the school community. 
  • Completes assessments, referrals, and counseling with scholars and families.
  • Serves as a member of school-based teams to provide internal and external support to families.
  • Support development of scholar self-advocacy and a school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations that enables a consistent focus on results.
  • Research and develop lessons around character development and social emotional learning through class circles, advisory, or weekly culture blocks.
  • Support staff around behavior management, classroom culture, and school wide systems. 
  • Liaison with teaching and administrative staff to support scholars.
  • Provide at risk services for scholars individually and in small groups around individualized behavior goals to manage crisis intervention. 
  • Communicate and reinforce explicit and high behavioral expectations based on our Core Values. 
  • Work closely and effectively with scholars who have behavior challenges; partner with the Culture team, teachers and families to execute individualized behavior interventions when needed. 
  • Implement Professional Development for Teachers and assist in School Events when needed. 
  • Mediate conflict between scholars in a restorative manner.
  • Refer scholars to mental health resources.
  • Helping scholars understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through classroom guidance lessons and counseling
  • Counseling individuals and small groups as determined by mandates.
  • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to help scholars succeed.
  • Reporting possible cases of neglect or abuse and referring scholars and parents to resources outside the school for additional support.
  • Assist scholars with High School applications. 
  • Conduct at risk counseling sessions for scholars who may need support. 
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that effectively address the needs of at-risk scholars. 
  • Keep detailed and up to date scholar behavior records and collaborate with parents, teachers and other members of the staff to implement behavior plans.
  • Establish strong parent-school relationships and meet with parents regarding scholar behavior and interventions provided.
  • Plan, develop, and execute parent, teacher and scholar workshops in collaboration with social workers/counselors.
  • Plan, support and attend special school events (Talent Show, Prom, Graduation, etc.).
  • Create, maintain, and update accurate scholar records, documenting all aspects of the incidents and interventions.
  • Participate in scholar academic referral processes, as needed.
  • Provide reports of incidents and interventions on a weekly basis as specified by the Director of School Culture.
  • In partnership with school administrators, ensure scholar attendance is above 95% for all scholars. 
  • Observe and give feedback to teachers regarding behavior management and restorative practices that result in increased performance.
